Jimbaran Beach can be concluded with three main icons, namely seafood restaurants, stunning set view, and refreshing vacation. One cannot help thinking how the flow of tourists to the Island of the Gods have changed what was once a backwater, traditional fishing village. But since 1980s, when all people in the world started to know more about Bali, the tiny fishing village has been growing into a world class destination. And the main characteristic of this once insignificant village is its present fine seafood restaurants. Now, at around five o’clock you should join the flock of tourists who are coming out of their home away from home, order your meals using any method you like, and wait at your table, preferably at the outdoor. You can chat with your companions and when it is time for the sun to show its magnificent procession, your meal may be not yet ready so your attention and gaze to the western horizon will not be disturbed. That is the time for your memorable sunset viewing in Jimbaran.

When the procession is finished, the experience is not yet finished, Your meal will be delivered to your table. The light is getting dimmer and dimmer but you can still look at the foods and the surrounding easily as bright lamps are shining through from the main building of the restaurants. In addition, there are also oil torches lit along the beach. Amidst such atmosphere, one is enjoying the meals leisurely, without they have to be hurrying up for any other occasion. Nusa Dua is actually an area consisted of two small islands, separated from the mainland of the Paradise Island by narrow strait. Such feeling is even more intensified when you enter the living room and other rooms in your accommodation.

Let us start from the bedroom. It is evening when you arrive at the accommodation. You feel sleepy and started to the bedroom. The blinds are opened so you can see the great Indian Ocean over there. You fall to sleep and spend the afternoon in slumber. When you wake up, the sun is on the far west. The sky is clean without a trace of a cloud in that direction. From what you have heard from your friend, there will be a daily sunset view on that direction. So you get up and start to prepare yourself for the wonder.

There is a dilemma, however, as you are faced with two options. Do you have to go down to the beach to enjoy the unique experience of watching the tropical sunset going down? Do you have to watch the wonder right from the comfort of your villa? But as you are going to stay for a few days in that place, you decided to taste the latter option. So, at around five o’clock, you are enjoying the golden sunset from a couch that has been set up to face to the west. It is different viewing the sunset from a height and from a beach. But you can try the latter tomorrow.

Although all of those new beaches can be found at Uluwatu area, they have different characteristics. For example, Dreamland was actually a beautiful backwater that had been damaged when a large property was built near itu. As such, while you are enjoying the surf, you cannot help noticing the great damage that property had done to the environment. But fortunately the strong breaks are strong enough to seduce surfers. Moreover, surfing at the beach is relatively undisturbed by the activities in the property. However, one thing is easy to notice: the lack of tourism resources around the area of the beach.

In fact, the most advanced beach among those new five is Balangan and this is not yet an ideal place for travelers looking for luxury accommodations. Beachfront villas, if you want to call such accommodation that way, at the beach does not belong to luxury class. The best of the available accommodation here is made of a combination between bamboo, cement and a little concrete. Such condition makes the accommodation a simple yet does not offer too many comfort, if you consider comfort with modern home entertainment, home entertainment and privacy. So, it is not wise to hope that you will gain a private access to the beach when staying in such accommodations.

There are, however, cliffside Bali villas, perched high above the cliff for which Uluwatu is known. These accommodations are usually of better class in terms of luxury and privacy. Most of them even have their own private access to the beach. The access can be in the form of stairs built upon the natural contour of the cliff. Others may provide more sophisticated access in the form of elevator. Facilities and services in this higher accommodations are also much better than the accommodations we find right beside the shore.

Of course the decision over which place to book when we want to spend the holiday in Uluwatu will depend on the type of the holiday. When we want the vacation to be an adventure to the places are not yet long enough considered in the tourism industry, we get the freshness and natural setting better. But if we are to spend the vacation in a total relaxation amidst modernity yet with nature overlooking us, the more expensive yet comfortable accommodation can be the option. Whichever accommodation that you finally choose, holiday in Bali is always worth the memory.

Around the area of the beaches itself, there is not yet considerable place to stay. In fact, what is now available in those areas can still be considered accommodation for budget and mid-range travelers. Accommodation places of Bali luxury villas category are relatively still rare when you compared them to the livelier areas of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. The rate is lower than the former at USD950, compared to the former’s USD13,500. Facilities are more spacious at Pemutih Villa. The living room is open and huge enough to accommodate a number of people. The property also comes with complete kitchen with modern utilities. In short, the latter offers greater feeling of a homeaway from home for the guests. As such, the enjoyment can be greater here especially when the guests come with the family or group of friends.

But those two are not the only Uluwatu villas. The other options incliude Villa Moonlight, Villa Karang Putih, The Istana, and Suluban Cliff Villa. All of them have the swimming pools and the great Indian Ocean view. Villa Moonlight is built further inland but still in the area of the Bukit Peninsula. Villa Karang Putih is remarkable as it has a helipad and private beach club as well as a sport center and a special wedding venue. Suluban Cliff Villa is special for its dramatically designed infinity pool while The Istana is the accommodation closest to the Uluwatu Temple.

That is the first consideration when you area searching for an ideal place. Of course there are a lot of Bali luxury villas that are available for rent in such higher spots. It is not a problem if you want to enjoy only the Indian Ocean. But at Uluwatu, the enjoyment of the place will be best when done in accordance to another unique feature, namely the Uluwatu Temple. Just like the other sacred places in Bali, the temple has its own story. According to the legend which has been turned into belief, the temple is the very spot where a holy Hindu priest got moksa. This is a state where one is freed from the cycle of suffering that comes from one’s existence and so one reaches nirwana or heaven. The priest is said to get his moksa as his jib as a priest and a teacher of religion who taught Hindu teachings had finished.

His teachings indeed permeated throughout the Hindu as it is believed by Balinese even until today. After he reached his moksa, people could not find his physical body. It is said that the body ofthe priest has been released with his other sides of existence to become one with nothingness. To commemorate the moksa of the priest, a king erected a temple with nine meru or thatched roof on the very place where the priest reached his moksa. Uluwatu Temple is built in antiquity and ever since it has been furnished by every generation of Balinese who follow the teachings of the priest.

The husband has contacted a nanny service through the Internet and has reached a deal that the nanny will be sent to their accommodation as soon as the small family have arrived at the Paradise Island. The wife nodded her head although, as a mother, she still have a vague suspicion over safety.

When they have arrived at their home away from home, the wife’s vague feeling was proven. There is the huge private swimming pool inside the villa. Besides the pool, there are sundecks. These tools were not a problem for the wife. It is the green and spacious garden that give her a headache. Children love playing in such space. No matter how hard you prevent them fromplayig there, they will insist to obey their natural instinct. The problem is that the garden is located too close to the pool, in the opinion of the wife. Who can make sure that the children will not, accidentally, plunge into the deep pool?

The husband consulted the staff of the property and came again to the wife with a big smile on his face. The husband told the dear wife that the staff recommended them to use a pool fence service as such property usually does not prepare for the necessary means and tools for doing that. The property does not provide such service but the staff can contact an external service. The husband has agreed and in less than an hour a team consisted of there man came, bringing the aluminum pipes and installation tools.

The team worked quietly and with admirable speed. In less that three hours, they have finished set up the pool fence. The wife watched their work and eventually her worry disappear. Although the children are interested with the huge waterscape, they will not be able to run past the fence, no matter how hard they try. The wife thanked the man and her husband, who produces the fee for the fence service. During their stay in that property, the parents feel safe when leaving the children playing in the garden. When the kids insisted on playing with water, they just take those little cutes to the beach. It is that simple.

As the main theme of the property is water, you can find many kinds of art works with water as the basic concept here. Fountains and ponds are plenty. I am sure that you will find it pleasant to sit in the morning while the first rays of the sun shine down the waterscape. You will hear the sound of the trickling water from the fountain. If you love fish, you can always find a pond with Koi fish or other kinds of fish here.
